The Netherlands successfully developed bio-based polyester PEFT shirt
Publisher: Published:2013/12/11
Recently, the Dutch company Avantium has successfully developed a bio-based polyester PEF, and as a feedstock for the production of T -shirts . The company said , PEF properties similar to PET can be used in fiber manufacturing . It is reported that the use of bio-based PEF widely polyester , can be recycled . PEF bottles waste can be processed through a special process to PEF fibers , and then as a raw material to produce 100 % renewable T-shirts .
Currently, the fiber is one of the important applications of the PET material . However , most current PET fibers are petroleum-based , easy to have a greater impact on the environment. Thus , the advent of bio-based PEF polyester textile industry will open up a new road of sustainable development .
Before mass production of bio-based PEFT shirts, RWTH Aachen University , Germany Institute of Textile Technology Avantium 's researchers conducted a controlled experiment samples . The results show that, compared with conventional fibers , PEF is more suitable for the production of polyester weaving and dyeing class clothing.
AvantiumCEOTomvanAken said: " PEF bottles as raw material in the production of waste out of fashion and sportswear are able to be recycled , garment industry will add a new selling point ."
South Africa during the World Cup, Nike renewable petroleum-based PET bottles as raw material for Brazil, Japan , the United Kingdom , the United States , the Netherlands national football team designed a sportswear styles . It is reported that these garments saving of 30% of the raw material and energy consumption. Avantium said , PEFT shirts with 100 % renewable bio- based materials made to help reduce people's dependence on oil , to further reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere . Thus , a wide range of application of the material will help to realize the sustainable development of the textile industry . |
